The #WCBUC Aftermath

WordCamp Bucharest 2018 was an amazing experience for us as volunteers and organizers. We really enjoyed all the talks and the buzzing in the networking areas, the Contributor Day where we had an unexpectedly large number of people joining, the After Party and the guided tour through Bucharest.

Seeing all these different people from all over the world come together, to share their knowledge and experience with WordPress, really filled our hearts with joy. We felt that all the speakers delivered on-point and interesting presentations and we were glad to see the room engage with them and ask questions.

Hopefully, everyone who attended had a lot of fun, and from the feedback we got so far, they really did!

We’d like to learn about your experience, what you liked/disliked about the event, what talks you enjoyed most, how was the after party vibe and more. Please take a few moments and shareĀ your thoughts about #wcbuc 2018!

Sponsors

This year we were overwhelmed by the support received from the sponsors. We canā€™t stress enough that WordCamp cannot happen without their involvement. Here’s to the companies that helped us this year:

WooCommerce, Jetpack, TranslatePress, WooCart, ScalaHosting (our Gold Sponsors)

GoDaddy, Bluehost, BrizyĀ (our Silver Sponsors)

CrowdFavorite, Codeinwp, Yoast, WPZOOM (our Bronze Sponsors)

Sessions

We’ve had an extensiveĀ line-up this year with topics covering development, GDPR, Gutenberg, social media, business strategies and many more. All wrapped up in one conference day with a single track and 14 presentations.

Some of the presentation slides can be found online:

George Gkouvousis –Ā Setting us the ideal WordPress Web Server: from zero to hero!Ā

Vineet Talwar – Progressive Web Apps: The future of mobile web/apps

Mario Peshev –Tips For Succesful WP Enterprise Projects

Andrei Lupu – Before and Beyond Gutenberg

Horia Neagu – WordPress & SEO – At Long Last Love

Yannick Gaultier –Ā AMP: itā€™s getting faster!

Attendees

WordCamp Bucharest is the only event in Romania dedicated to WordPress, so weā€™ve had people coming in from all major cities in Romania. Besides our international speakers, we were happy to see new faces who came from far away to meet our local community. People from 14 countries attended the event.

Volunteers and organizers

Finally, a big round of applause to the organizing team that has been preparing this event since early May. Everything from venue to catering, website, communications, to speakers sessions must be thought through and prepared in advance. Big up to the volunteers team who was spot on in handling registration, taking care of the speakers and making sure things are in place during the event.

Thereā€™s so much more that can be said about WordCamp Bucharest, but little time to review everything. Good thing that others have covered it too:

Itā€™s been a pleasure to have WordPress people from all around the country and beyond gathered in the same city. We are not always aware of how big the WordPress community is and itā€™s always encouraging to be able to talk and learn from each other in person. We hope this will lead to more WordCamps and WordPress Meetups being organized in other cities.

Thank you all for participating and hope to see you next year!
