A perfect time to take a look back and remember how the local WordPress\u00a0community has evolved.<\/p>\n<p>The WordPress\u00a0meetup was initiated\u00a0by a group of WordPress enthusiasts and friends \u2013 Marius Vetrici, Bogdan Dragomir, Alex Negoita and Cristi Toma \u2013 after attending WordCamp Europe in Sofia,\u00a0in 2014. They came\u00a0back inspired to share\u00a0their knowledge and passion for WordPress.<!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">2 years ago, at <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/WCEU?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#WCEU<\/a> in Sofia <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/miss_jwo?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@miss_jwo<\/a> put us on the right track with <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/wprobu?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@wprobu<\/a> Today we\u2019ll have meeting #21 \ud83d\ude09 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/NpQcnFMxMV\">pic.twitter.com\/NpQcnFMxMV<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Marius Vetrici (@mariusvetrici) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mariusvetrici\/status\/748500464887537668?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 30, 2016<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Since then, WordPress\u00a0beginners to pros in Bucharest gather together on the second Tuesday of each month to learn, contribute\u00a0and make new friends. These meetings have developed as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.meetup.com\/Bucharest-WordPress-Meetup\/\" target=\"_blank\">a vibrant community of over 700 members<\/a> where everybody is welcome to learn and share.\u00a0Every Meetup was a real success, with 20 to 60 participants and a real opportunity to learn and develop WordPress skills.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Meet our great event venue <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ImpactHubRO?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@ImpactHubRO<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/OtocOl3pAL\">pic.twitter.com\/OtocOl3pAL<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Bucharest WP Meetup (@wprobu) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/wprobu\/status\/697103921874132992?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 9, 2016<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The sessions usually include\u00a0a technical presentation and a business presentation.\u00a0Other times, the\u00a0attenders are\u00a0challenged to learn by doing in workshops, or in different kinds of give &amp; talk sessions (circle talk meetings, sharing impressions &amp; tips, group discussions). Every time, this space offered support for all type of professionals: developers and business owners as well as non-tech\u00a0people (entrepreneurs, bloggers and general WordPress users). That\u2019s why, even contributions of ordinary WordPress users are\u00a0welcome &#8211; Mihai Zaharia, founder of <a href=\"http:\/\/bunicel.ro\/\" target=\"_blank\">bunicel.ro<\/a> spoke about \u00a0how did WordPress helped his jam-making\u00a0business.<\/p>\n<p>There were also international speakers joining the meetings remotely:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/simonwheatley\" target=\"_blank\">Simon Wheatley<\/a>\u00a0from Automattic spoke about\u00a0<em>The business of Open Source<\/em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/markoheijnen?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\">Marko Heijnen<\/a>, Founder of CodeKitchen spoke about <em>Protecting your site by detection,<\/em>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/dmsnell23\" target=\"_blank\">Dennis Snell<\/a> from Automattic&#8217;s presentation was entitled\u00a0<em>Playing well with others: writing solid code in large community projects and\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.remicorson.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Remi Corson<\/a>, part of the\u00a0WooTeam, talked about <em>WooCommerce WP-CLI integration.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>So, technical or non-technical topics were tackled in different format sessions (presentations, workshops, discussions, Q&amp;A). And at the end, people would go to the now traditional beer-between-new-friends.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The after beer. These meetings are open to everyone who wants to share their passion for WordPress, offering a warm place for networking and education. Wanna-bees or bloggers, developers, designers or online marketing experts, freelancers, employers or business owners \u2013 all \u00a0are welcome to build further this community.<\/p>\n<p>In t<a href=\"http:\/\/www.meetup.com\/Bucharest-WordPress-Meetup\/events\/233884166\/\" target=\"_blank\">he\u00a0next Meetup<\/a>\u00a0(September, 20th) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/alexbordei\" target=\"_blank\">Alex Bordei,<\/a>\u00a0Manager Whiz Center Romania, will talk about <strong>Connected with the physical world &#8211; WordPress integrates IoT elements<\/strong>.
