WordCamp Bucharest 2016 was an awesome experience for us as organizers, we managed to learn a lot, to be patient and to prioritize: volunteer work means time-management like never before.
We really enjoyed to vibe of the room during the speeches, the buzzing in the networking areas, and seeing people from Romania, Serbia, Italy, Poland, just to name a few, come together to make this a great event.
The speakers delivered on-point and interesting presentations and we were glad to see the room engage with them and ask questions.
Hopefully everyone who attended had a lot of fun, and from our observations, they did! The coffee was pouring, the connections were being made, and of course WordPress was present everywhere: from notebooks to pins, to t-shirts and socks. Talk about brand-following.
Here are a few crunched numbers:
Tickets: 172 WordCampers purchased tickets;
Attendants: 164 WordCampers joined us in Bucharest;
Organizers: 12 of us;
Volunteers: 10 awesome people;
Speakers: 14 presentations in total;
Sponsors: 10 sponsors, 5 global and 5 local;
Countries: participants from 8 countries;
Tweets: 120;
Retweets: 245.
We’ve taken countless photos, pages of notes and exchanged hundreds of business cards.
Everyone had a great time networking, enjoyed being part of the community and adding their own contribution to what it means to “be WordPress” in Romania and Bucharest.
Thank you to WooCommerce, JetPack, Crowd Favorite, ThemeIsle, CaptainForm (our Gold Sponsors), to GoDaddy, Bluehost (our Silver Sponsors), and to WPML and SiteGround (our Bronze Sponsors).
Also, thank you to our caterers for their involvement, making sure our lunch and coffee breaks were awesome, and the food was very tasty!
We’d love to see you all next year, in bigger numbers. With more speakers, more sessions and breaks and generally with more WordPress all in all.
Seeing all of you come together like this encourages us to continue, and we have high expectations that the connections we felt forming will not only lead to a better event next year, but also to many great things and opportunities for the WordPress community in Romania and around the world.
Thank you all!
